Where we are in the program
With a heavy but proud heart, our first Native Ag+Food Ideas2Business program is coming to an end with the cohort having just completed week 10! The cohort has gone through the early two stages of the program: exercises to develop a deep understanding of their consumers, and to begin their product-market fit journey. We have also focused on not only creating a viable business but one with considerate value chain mapping.
It is important to note that the performance of value chains is critical to the success of any business; through understanding how to create value for your end consumer and how we return this value to your business. Striking a balance is fundamental to a sustainable value chain; all companies, regardless of their position in the value chain, must have a deep understanding of how all elements are working and put in place strategies to overcome risks or gaps within their own.
The teams have progressed successfully through the intensive weeks of interviewing potential customers for their innovative solutions. Some teams have spoken to over 25 individuals within their target segment, allowing them to reflect on their solution, make changes, test and learn to ensure that what they deliver creates real value for their consumers.
The cohort has also undertaken a real-life ‘purchase test’ by presenting their value proposition and prototype of their solution to the world through the development of websites/landing pages and paid advertising on social media channels. The cohort will leave the program with a detailed three to six-month plan on how to overcome specific challenges and hurdles identified in their business. Challenges include supply constraints, securing key strategic partnerships and resources required, access to capital and other elements of their business model and value chain. Food Futures Company will continue to engage and work with these businesses moving forward in our alumni and pathway initiatives.
