About the Event
Australia is on track to reach landfill capacity by 2025 and wastes 7.6 million tonnes of food each year. This is equivalent to 312 kg per person, or around one in five bags of groceries.
Food waste costs the Australian economy an estimated $36.6 billion each year. This includes the cost of lost production, lost sales, and the cost of disposal.
We’re on the hunt for changemakers, creators, ag and food enthusiasts and entrepreneurs who have a great startup business idea to reduce food waste across the agriculture and food sector! This early stage incubator program will provide you with 1:1 coaching, access to industry mentors and experts and support you to build confidence and capabilities to launch a sustainable business venture.
There are many areas in the agriculture and food system that need solutions to reduce, reuse or recycle waste and other byproducts. Examples include (but not limited to);

- High value food and beverage products for human consumption utilising upcycled or ingredients that would otherwise have been discarded from farming production and/or manufacturing/processing eg. spent grain from beer brewing
- Utilising byproducts and waste streams from agrifood value chains into products such as skin care, beauty and nutraceuticals
- Converting low value ingredients such as 'ugly vegetables' into functional food products for humans and pets
- Repurposed agrifood raw materials into sustainable packaging solutions
Join us for an online info session to find out more about how the program works, chat to us about your  startup concept or idea, and learn how we will help support you to reach your impact goals!
This program is open to individuals and businesses located in regional New South Wales (anywhere outside of Sydney City) and is valued at $25,000.
This project is funded through the NSW Government’s Accelerating Regional Innovation Fund.
